Bottled water is the second most popular beverage in the U.S., second only to soft drinks. Even if we do not really require eight glasses a day, environmental factors such as climate, exercise, and stress may strain our fluid balance. People who are dehydrated often feel fatigued and develop headaches, which results in less productivity and enjoyment whether in work or leisure.

If you suffer from bad digestion, fatigue, or chronic muscle soreness, you may not be drinking enough water. Find a water bottle, keep it full, and start enjoying the benefits of water today.

Retaining fluid balance

The human body is 60% water. Fluids are necessary for digestion, nutrient absorption, circulation, and body temperature regulation. When fluids are low, the brain triggers the thirst mechanism. These functions will slow down until fluid balance is restored.

Regular water consumption maintains the balance so these functions continue to proceed smoothly. People who keep themselves hydrated report better digestion, less fatigue, and an overall feeling of well-being.

While the rule regarding eight glasses a day has never been supported by research, it is considered a good standard for helping people consume enough fluids.

Improved kidney function

Kidney stones are a very painful potential consequence of dehydration. They result from toxin build-up that would normally be flushed out with fluid consumption. Drinking water helps the kidneys flush out toxins and prevent kidney stones.

Your chances of kidney stones are low as long as you drink enough water to keep your urine light-colored. When you start passing darker-colored urine, increase your water consumption.

Better muscle performance

Water carries oxygen throughout the body, including to the muscles. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends consuming 17 ounces of water before beginning exercise and maintaining hydration periodically as the body sweats. Keeping this rate of hydration improves muscle performance throughout exercise and will reduce the chances of muscle soreness the next day.

Help improve joint flexibility

If you suffer arthritis or are recovering from an injury, keeping hydrated will help lubricate your joints. The moisture balance within your body helps with joint flexibility so that you can move smoothly without pain.

If you suffer from chronic symptoms despite maintaining hydration, you will need to seek further medical intervention. However, if you do not suffer from a serious health condition that causes the symptoms listed here, and just need to adopt healthier habits, increasing your water intake and maintaining your hydration levels will be a great addition to the repertoire of your healthy lifestyle.
